ανταγωνισμός: τα ανταγωνιστικά παιχνίδια στον δημόσιο χώρο περιλαμβάνουν κάθε είδους επιδείξεις και δοκιμές δύναμης, επιδεξιότητας και αντίληψης. Οι συγκρούσεις αποσκοπούν στην κυριαρχία του ενός πάνω στον άλλο και στην κατανόηση των ορίων του κάθε ατόμου - είναι διερευνητικές και δεν στηρίζονται σε πραγματικές σχέσεις εξουσίας.
Το δημόσιο παιχνίδι δίνει την δυνατότητα στο άτομο να επιδείξει, να πραγματοποιήσει και να επεκτείνει τις ικανότητες του. η πόλη πλαισιώνει ένα ευρύ φάσμα ανθρώπων για να ανταγωνιστούν και μια ποικιλία σκηνικών για τους αγώνες τους. Τα νοήματα που εντάσσονται στους δημόσιους χώρους βοηθούν επίσης στο σχηματισμό των αγώνων που διαδραματίζονται σε αυτούς.
